Play meadow 't Vierkante Stuk
In the middle of the forest you'll find a large open space: 't Vierkante Stuk. Generations have been playing here. The playground equipment is made from natural materials and is an experience in itself. You'll also find fun facts and nature assignments about the animals you can discover in the area. A real tip if you want to teach the children more about Texel's nature through play.
Wezenpark Den Burg
In the small but well-organized park in Den Burg, you'll find a few playground equipment pieces. Don't expect spectacular swings, but there's enough to keep you entertained for a cup of coffee - or two. Right next to the park and playground is the terrace of the Texelse Branding. A win-win location if you ask us.
Ice Cream Farm Labora
You might have already driven to the 'Far North' of Texel for the ice cream anyway. Even for non-ice cream lovers, it's a treat to wander around the farm. In the large playground, where you can enjoy the homemade Texel ice cream, you'll find countless play equipment and a large air trampoline. You can also take a peek at the dairy cows, deer, and beautiful peacocks.
Since you're in the North anyway, you can also take a quick look at the water playground in De Cocksdorp. On a warm spring or summer day, it's all about splashing and playing!
Personal favorite of Claudia & Pascal:
Sommeltjes Trail
This isn't really a playground, but it's a wonderful outdoor experience for the little ones (and adults)! The 1.5-kilometer forest trail is practically in our 'front yard': the Texel Pines. From the starting point (Pelikaanweg), you'll find little gnomes every few meters, which you can read more about during your walk. And don't forget to look up every now and then! The trail is open 24/7 and fun even for the very youngest visitors.
Play ship marina
Climb the 'lighthouse', feel like a pirate on the play and climbing ship, or sail with the mini-Teso to the mainland. The playground at the marina in Oudeschild offers a diverse range of climbing equipment for little ones and bigger kids. Next to the play ship, you'll find the 'Water Place' with all sorts of mechanical devices and water from the Wadden Sea, plus a football field for the soccer fans.
We hope you - and especially the children - will have an amazing time on Texel. Do you know of an undiscovered hotspot for kids that we should share with our guests? Please let us know!
Beer of Texel
One family, one mission and one passion. The Diks family's artisanal brewery is going for gold. The copper kettles are filled with foaming beer, from fresh wheat to robust tripel. Look, taste and discover all the flavors.
Food Forest Texel
Bring a basket, head into the grounds and start picking! Fresh fruit, colorful tulips; whatever catches your eye. In the charming greenhouse you can taste homemade delicacies. The afternoon flies by, as there's so much for children to experience.
Gnome Trail
This route (1.5 km) is magical for little ones. Do gnomes live under the mushrooms? Who are those funny stone little men? Which forest animals do you see? Go on an adventure and enjoy that surprised little face of your child.
Conquering the Waves
The sea is a true playground for enthusiasts of all ages! Surfing in the rough waves or stand-up paddleboarding on calm waters? Put on a wetsuit and take the plunge. The surf instructor will paddle alongside you.
